A sky to match the drama once seen here hovers over the symbolic trail where 17,000 Cherokees were forced to march at Federal gunpoint to the Oklahoma Territory in 1838. One fourth lost their lives in transit. The Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek and Seminole Nations were soon to suffer the same fate.
