SELASPHORUS
RUFUS — RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD
|
||
Also
included are: Calliope Hummingbird and Anna's Hummingbird. Some of these
wee 3 ½ -4 inch travelers fly from coastal Alaska down to northwestern
Mexico every year. They are not only tough but aggressively scary as I
have lost many a hair on my head to their obsession with proper nest building.
Those little nests contain one to three tiny eggs and are bound with spider
silk. They love nectar, a delicious spider, and the color red. But be
careful…red food dyes added to sugar water may do a great deal of
harm to these wildly popular hovercraft. |
