HOODED ORIOLE
ICTERUS CUCULLATUS — HOODED ORIOLE

What do these gorgeous birds and chickadees have in common? Well, they both will hang upside-down on a branch. The orioles like to build nests in palm trees and keep company with humans who have bothered to landscape their gardens with ornamental plants. The male will bow to his lady after chasing her from branch to branch. He will whistle and chatter with a wheeat sound while his wife builds their dangling nest of leaves and Spanish moss with linings of grasses, wool, hair, and feathers in which to lay their three to five white, light yellow, or pale blue eggs.
