Porcupine quills stand in for eyebrow and beard on this poignant little mask, so expressive of profound sorrow. It has been painted pink and seems to be wearing makeup which might mean it represents an older white person who has been given the powerful ram’s head symbol which represents a spirit of great initiative and hard-headed leadership. A short verse by D.H. Lawerence consols the aggrieved by verbalizing their pain.
