In every one of their countries, Africans have been historically overwhelmed by tribal warfare and persons from other countries, other continents, coming to exploit native peoples and their land. Often, during sacred ceremonies, those foreigners might be represented by masks that would be chosen for the dance, when, along with offerings of sacrifice and prayer to their gods, they ask for relief from oppression. This white man could be either German or Dutch, both nationalities played a large part in the great South African land grab.
