Mississippi Palisades State Park, Illinois

They call this part of Northwest Illinois "the land the glaciers forgot." Great sheets of ice that had flattened the surrounding prairie left the high commanding bluffs overlooking the tempestuous Mississippi River and double lanes of the Great River Road. Meanwhile, the "Father of Waters," "Big Muddy," and "Ol' Man River" just keeps rollin' along.
