Mill Springs, Kentucky This
tiny Confederate gravesite was found by accident while searching for a
grist mill. I was stunned by the heartbreaking story of the Battle of
Mill Springs in early 1862 when the frozen bodies of 100 boys and men
were heaped into a mass grave after a Federal attack. Headstones were
later added as a memorial. A few months later the slaughter at Shiloh
eclipsed this loss except in the hearts of the residents. |
