Christmas Cove, Maine

Christmas Cove, Maine

Before the Maine coast had been explored and claimed for France in 1604, then won over by England in 1763, the Abnaki tribe had inhabited the land for centuries. Nearby Acadia National Park on Mt. Desert Island, donated in 1917 by John D. Rockefeller, protects its 42,000 acres and an American legacy of unspoiled beauty.
