Outside Talimena State Park, Oklahoma

The Ouachita Mountains provide a backdrop to this pastoral scene of five lunching cows, a donkey and two active oil wells. Towns that were formed in frenzied land rushes are surrounded now by lush wheat fields that support oil-rich cities. The Sooner State is also rich in Native American history.
