Although most of America's original tall grass prarie has been lost to cropland, this 8,600 acre preserve was set aside for research. Grasses like big and little bluestem, switchgrass and Indian grass grow to eight foot lengths recalling early pioneer comments on the "oceans of grass" in the great plains states.
